Map of Tuntsa-Naruska area by the Northern Salla reindeer owners' association

 

The Northern Salla reindeer owners' association gave a statement about the Tuntsa-Naruska ecological landscape plan. This map was an attachment to the statement.

 

Marked with blue state owned spruce forests near to natural state. Rich of lichen on spruce branches, these forests are important for reindeers of Northern Salla.

These areas are mainly considered as valuable old-growth forests by the environmental NGOs.

Forest and Park Service sees these forests as regular commercial forests and continues logging them.

Aitatsivaara is marked with a red spot and an exclamation mark.

Forest and Park Service has logging plans for at least Ahmatunturi area, south-eastern part of Tuntsa wilderness, right by the private land.
