Logging by governmental Forest and Park Service. Clearcutting in oId-growth forests near Talaskangas-nature protection area started on January 1998. Habitats of endangered Siberian Jay (Perisoreus infaustus) were clearcutted.

State owned old-growth forests and mires near Talaskangas area were proposed to be added on the EU Natura 2000 -protection programme by Finnish environmental organisations.

Despite of its promise, governmental enterprise Forest and Park Service did not plan loggings with its own nature protection unit nor with Regional Environment Centre.
