Ongoing logging in old-growth forests

Old-growth forest in eastern Finland, Kuhmo municipality (Kainuu) after logging carried out by State enterprise, Forest and Park Service. Loggings took place near nature reserve area Jonkerinsalo. Huge Scots pines over 500 years old can be found from these unique old-growth taiga forests.

The age of the young man standing under the tree is hardly 1/20 of the trees age.

 

 "ENSO - IN HARMONY WITH NATURE"

 

"We purchase wood only from sources that do not compromise the conservation of biodiversity". Finnish forest giant ENSO is continuously buying timber and pulp from old-growth forests. These old Scots pine - trees logged from state-owned old-growth forests in Jonkerinsalo area are waiting for to be transported to ENSOs pulp mill in Uimaharju, Eastern Finland.
