Ongoing logging in Finnish old-growth forests

"ENSO - IN HARMONY WITH NATURE"

ENSO GROUP is one of the biggest buyers of pulp wood and timber from Finnish Forest and Park Service. "We purchase wood only from sources that do not compromise the conservation of biodiversity".

These photographs were taken in harbour of Nurmes, eastern Finland (Northern Karelia) in May 1997. Thousands of cubic metres of timber and pulp wood from old-growth forests were found from the harbour. The oldest Scots pines in the timberyard were over 400 years old.
